A quick history (the fun version)
Cavaliers got their name from King Charles II of England, who was absolutely obsessed with them in the 1600s. Story goes, he took his little spaniels everywhere — even into important meetings — and got into trouble for paying more attention to the dogs than to running the country. (Honestly… same.)
Over the centuries the breed changed a bit, and in the 1920s a few devoted dog lovers worked to bring back the classic, sweet-faced Cavalier we know today. The American Kennel Club officially recognized the breed in 1995 — making Cavis a relatively new "old" breed.
Our coats
Blenheim
Pearly white with warm chestnut patches — the most familiar look. Mae, Braxton, Digsby, and Maya all wear Blenheim.
Tricolor
Black and white with friendly tan eyebrows and cheeks. Mallory's a tricolor!
The basics
Cavaliers are sweet, easygoing, and bonded to their people. They're gentle with little kids, patient with older folks, and play nicely with other pets. They're equally happy on a slow porch afternoon or a romp through the yard. Basically — they fit in wherever there's love.
